Oh irony of ironies, Steve Irwin was killed by one of the tamest creatures on earth. It's also ironic because he was stabbed through the heart while doing something he poured his heart into.
For some reason, I find this really, really troubling. I know he's just one guy and people die everyday in far more unjust ways. I guess it's just his personality. He was truly a singular person. He was one of those people that was both completely unique and instantly understandable on a purely intuitive level. Perhaps it's due to lack of knowledge of his background, but he seems to be internally consistant in a way that very few could ever possibly be.
I've known people who acted in such a manner. They are pure forces of nature. The only thing that can stop them is their own will. They are like On the Road's Dean Moriarty. They are they embodiment of Kierkegaard's "infinity of the self." They are the people who have the courage to live.
I don't know if you guys know what I'm talking about. Here's a Jack Kerouac quote:
"The only people for me are the mad ones, the ones who are mad to live, mad to talk, mad to be saved, desirous of everything at the same time, the ones who never yawn or say a commonplace things, but burn like fabulous roman candles exploding like spiders across the stars and in the middle you see the blue center light pop and everybody goes "AWWW!"

I too feel very sad about what has happened ~ my thoughts are mainly about how his wife and kids must be feeling now. He and his wife seemed to me made for each other and they all seemed to be completely happy as a family. He definitely was a passionate man about what he believed in!
