If you have a Macy's credit card I would strongly urge you to cut it up, burn it and donate the remains to your nearest pig farm for consumption and subsequent "processing" and send the good stuff on to their stupid billing departments.
I got a Macy's card a few months ago and tried to set up an online account so I could pay my bills. See, I'm not a huge fan of paper statements. I lose and forget about them. I prefer to do the bi-weekly when is what due online account check. I have all my accounts bookmarked and I go through them all, figure when each is due and submit the payments online.
So here I was happily paying my bills on time and then I start getting calls from collectors. These guys dound ticked and cynical. The guy didn't seem to believe that "i thought for sure I paid my bill." So I submitted my payment once again.
I get another call saying from a different guy who sounds pissed to the nth degree about two weeks later. "you're almost 60 days overdue and if you don't pay, we'll report it to the credit bureaus." So that got my attention. Using my handy dandy online bill pay I tell the guy "look, i submitted a payment of 12/20 something. Surely you see that." Pause. pause. "oh. You've been sending payments to your Macy's account not your Macy's visa accout."
Como?
Yeah, that's about as clear as mud. Apparently Macy's requires that you send payments to two different billing addresses. You send payment for instore purchases to one address and send outside store purchase payments to another. So here my Macy's account had a ton of credit on it and my Visa account hadn't been paid at all. The guy transfered the balances for me, took away my late fees, put a note in the system, etc. However he wasn't able to tell where in the world I was actually supposed to send my Visa payments. What a crock.

I so agree with you! I cannot remember to pay bills through the mail. If it can't be paid online, I'm in trouble. :) Citi credit cards have their own little scam where you can't make automatic payments unless you send them a form. (You can't do it online.) I finally got around to getting the form, sent it in, and nothing... Frustrating!
It must be a defective Roth gene or something, because I am sooooo the same wayas you two. We can't pay Bill's car payment online and I am always scrambling to find the stupid booklet so that I'll remember to send his payment in. I hate, hate, HATE paying bills...worst chore in the world.
